Biography
Hello all, my name is Matias Herrera. I am currently a 21-year-old Public Relations student and second-year resident assistant at California State University, Long Beach. Born and raised in the beach city of Santa Monica, I moved to Long Beach to pursue my bachelor's degree in mathematics. Still, I quickly found a passion in public relations after my first introduction to PR class.
Throughout my time working with Housing & Residential Life, I have learned essential life skills, including communicating with professional staff and student residents alike, and planning and hosting educational, community-engaging, and community-building events for over 100 residents. I have also been properly trained in conflict mediation and promoting inclusive and respectful living environments. During my time working at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, I assisted the PR team with media coordination, press legists, and event set-up.
Since then, I have made it my goal to get involved in public relations within my communities, including the Housing & Residential Life department at CSULB, and to continue working at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach. I am very eager to work in sports and entertainment, and I hope to expand and grow in my work with government and healthcare as I progress in my early public relations career.
